No amount of planning, research, or dedication guarantees a smooth launch. The real test only begins when your product meets actual customers. People who don't yet share your vision or know what to expect.
I recently faced this truth head-on with my "AI in Action" training. After months of preparation, refining concepts, and testing scenarios, I believed I had crafted something remarkable.
Then reality struck, really f*cking hard. My first executive session was supposed to inspire clarity, but instead, it created confusion. Within minutes, I could sense the disconnect. As any founder knows, that gut-level feeling of missing the mark is palpable.
The executives in the room had impressive pedigrees and were individuals I knew and trusted to provide honest, actionable feedback. Early in any launch, gaining insights from people who deliver candid, no-nonsense critiques is essential. Sugar-coated feedback, while comforting, offers virtually zero real-world value. That brutal honesty is what ultimately guides meaningful improvements.
The Painful Silence of Insight
The hardest part wasn't simply realizing I'd missed the mark, it was facing someone who deeply understands me. My wife Zara, my closest confidante and support system, eagerly asked how it went. My response wasn’t verbal, it was written all over my face. She instantly read my expression. No explanations were needed. The silent recognition in her eyes conveyed a message clearer than words ever could: I had a lot of work ahead. Work that ended up being 40 hours holed up in my office over a 3-day weekend.

Here’s what seasoned entrepreneurs know: Negative feedback isn't a barrier—it's guidance. My initial launch wasn't wasted effort; it was an opportunity to recalibrate. The goal became clear: simplify, clarify, and empathize deeply with my audience.
Driven by constructive critique, I went back to work, overhauling the training, streamlining the message, and refining the value proposition. This kind of focused recalibration isn't easy, but it's the difference between good intentions and impactful outcomes.

Last week, I shared the newly refined "AI in Action" training with the performance marketing agency, Gigawatt Media. The atmosphere was noticeably different—engaged, energetic, and insightful.

With another two sales teams on deck this week, the evolution will continue, and I’m excited for what’s ahead.
